1.  WELCOME TO THE HEMP RECREATION AND RELIGION ROOM.

Welcome.  Lumping recreation and religion in a museum room is arbitrary, but in many ways this might be called the freedom room. The reason we have a hemp museum separate from the rest of natural history is that hemp is prohibited, illegal, and maligned as few natural living things have been in history.  I have been branded a criminal for doing what is my inalienable right to pursue, my inalienable right to happiness.

George Washington had the right to both smoke and grow hemp.  Now ask yourself where that right went.
It seems that there was a law passed in our land which our government had no right to pass.  To usurp our right to agriculture, the right to smoke and grow hemp, the United States Government passed the Marijuana Tax Act of 1937.  It was and is unconstitutional by U.S. v. Leary, in 1969, but would not stand any judicial scrutiny today, as The Marijuana Tax Act is full of lies, misinformation, deception, and a total disregard for the law.  The law that was violated was the U.S. Constitution.  From U.S. v. Butler, 1936, this part bears repeating here.   This is the Supreme Court of the U.S. speaking:

"...another principle embedded in our Constitution prohibits the enforcement of the Agricultural Adjustment Act. The act invades the reserved rights of the states. It is a statutory plan to regulate and control agricultural production, a matter beyond the powers delegated to the federal government. The tax, the appropriation of the funds raised, and the direction for their disbursement, are but parts of the plan. They are but means to an unconstitutional end.

From the accepted doctrine that the United States is a government of delegated powers, it follows that those not expressly granted, or reasonably to be implied from as such are conferred, are reserved to the states or to the people. To forestall any suggestion to the contrary, the Tenth Amendment was adopted. The same proposition, otherwise stated, is that powers not granted are prohibited. None to regulate agricultural production is given, and therefore legislation by Congress for that purpose is forbidden.

It is an established principle that the attainment of a prohibited end may not be accomplished under the pretext of the exertion of powers which are granted.

The power of taxation, which is expressly granted, may, of course, be adopted as a means to carry into operation another power also expressly granted. But resort to the taxing power to effectuate an end which is not legitimate, not within the scope of the Constitution, is obviously inadmissible." (Emphasis the Curator's).

2.  HISTORY OF HEMP CONSUMPTION.

Hemp and marijuana have been around humans and their ancestors before them for eons of time, maybe as much as 1.7 million years since the first migrations out of Africa to the steppes of Central Asia where hemp is native to the area.

With 1.7 million years to work with it is safe to assume that recreational use did not start in the 1960's with the hip generation or even in the 1910's & 20's with the reefer madness.  The Book of Grass states, "Marihuana has been used freely by a large proportion of the World's population since prehistoric times, (is) a significant feature of religious rites among the ancient Hindus, Scythians and Iranians."

Study after study in the last 100 years of the use of hemp recreationally has recommended decreased penalties and more tolerance toward the plant.

In their "Final Comment," the National Commission on Marijuana and Drug Abuse, in 1972, gave this striking comment on the use of marijuana:
"Considering the range of social concerns in contemporary America, marijuana does not, in our considered judgment, rank very high.  We would de-emphasize marijuana as a problem. The existing social and legal policy is out of proportion to the individual and social harm engendered by the use of the drug."

No one in power listened.

SOUL FOOD.  By Artist Peter Bartczak.  1998.  Tricky Envelopes.  In a legend dating back over 500 years before Christ, Gautama Buddha revealed The Four Noble Truths and Eightfold Path of Knowledge only after eating nothing but one hemp seed per day for six years.
GENESIS  1:11  And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass,

1:12  And the earth brought forth grass.

JESUS AND THE SACRED HERB.  By Amarah K. Gabriel.  1990's.  Green Goddess Productions.  A spiritual partnership between humans and Hemp goes back ten thousand years.  Jesus said it all in the words, "Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's and unto God that which is God's."  According to the Bible, the plants were created by God and were given to the people by God.  Cannabis the seed bearing herb was not given to Caesar or the government, but to the people to render unto God.
According to one of the Hemp Museum's hemp paper bibles, The Pictorial Bible: With More Than One Thousand Engravings.  1843. J. S. Redfield, Clinton Hall.  New York;  The First Book of Moses, called Genesis, Chapter I, Verses 11 and 12 describe the origin of hemp in the biblical version of the creation, while verse 29 of Chapter I describes the gifting of the herb:
"11  And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit-tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth:  and it was so.
12  And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind:  and God saw that it was good.
29  And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
30  And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to everything that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.
31  And God saw everything that he had made: and behold, it was very good."
"Everything was very good." - God.
Burn the bush is what God had to do because Moses hadn't learned to roll  joints.  Paper wasn't invented for another few thousand years.

5.  HEMP & SEXUALITY.

The following paragraph is from THE BOOK OF GRASS, and is by Alexander Trocchi, titled "Marihuana and Sex:"
"Experts agree that marihuana has no aphrodisiac effect, and in this as in a large percentage of their judgments they are entirely wrong.  If one is sexually bent, if it occurs to one that it would be pleasant to make love, the judicious use of the drug will stimulate the desire and heighten the pleasure immeasurably, for it is perhaps the principle effect of marihuana to take one more intensely into whatever experience.  I should recommend its use in schools to make the pleasures of poetry, art, and music available to pupils who, to the common detriment of our civilization, are congenitally or by infection insensitive to symbolic expression.  It provokes a more sensual (or aesthetic) kind of concentration, a detailed articulation of minute areas, an ability to adopt play postures.  What can be more relevant in the act of love?"

Yes, Yes, Oh, Yes!  The Sexual Power of Marijuana.  By Barbara Lewis.  1970.  An intimate report on the sex lives of marijuana users.
