18. READINGS ON HEMP AGRICULTURE.
| This section of reading material on agriculture lists both industrial hemp and marijuana references. These plants are the same species. To say that knowing about the growing of one variety cannot be enhanced by some knowledge of the other may be foolhardy. Those who argue that industrial hemp should be separated from medical Cannabis (marijuana) may yet be surprised that the first industry re-legalized from the current prohibition of the entire species is the hemp medical industry. That is the way the government works, often irrational and backward. We in California can legally grow fat buds for our own medical use, but would go to jail for an eighth of an acre of industrial hemp (too many plants, never mind what they're for). And because I love to remind everyone, half a million adult American citizens in Alaska can both smoke and grow Cannabis/hemp/marijuana in the privacy of their own home and yard under Alaska law (since 1974). Be prepared for changes. Also listed below are some older agriculture books with hemp references. |

Book Size 11 X 8 1/2 inches. The task force report is an extensive study of growing hemp as a basic resource for fiber, food, fuel, paper and other uses. Contacts were made with existing hemp and related industries and manufacturers both in this country and abroad. The legalities of growing hemp are discussed. In addition to hemp the report also covers flax and kenaf fiber crops. Any State contemplating the growing of hemp would find much of the research already done by this task force. |
